Infrared Thermography

Can Help You See Situations That Are

INVISIBLE To The Naked Eye!

Temperature is an invisible dynamic.  It can be felt, physically, but unless differences in temperature are drastic it is almost impossible to track on a surface.  Unknown to most people, all objects emit infrared radiation near room temperature (See Planck’s Law of Black Body Radiation).

With the right equipment, a themographic camera, it is possible to see one’s environment with or without visible light. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature; therefore, thermography allows one to see variations in temperature.  The differences in temperature in a thermographic camera are displayed as visible colors associated with the temperature ranges.

Throughout your house or business, temperature variations are quite common, and occur due to multiple reasons.  A human body would obviously be warmer than most surroundings and would show up as such.  Ductwork carrying heated or cooled air would appear different than the air around it.

And, electrical appliances/machines tend to “heat up” and emit varying temperature displays due to the small amount of friction created within the equipment. (Even electricity running through wires causes friction which can be seen!)  Most of these situations are common and not something to be concerned about.  They happen all the time around us.

However…

There are also every day situations that may be happening around us
which SHOULD be a concern to us.

  • A bad wiring connection that is getting hot whenever electricity is applied to the circuit.

  • A cracked water line within a wall that is spraying a fine mist on to the back side of your sheet rock.

  • A poorly done insulation job that is allowing heated/cooled air to seep through the exposed area.

  • Incomplete construction behind walls or under floors that cannot be determined without destructive testing.

Without an infrared thermographic survey or inspection, these situations continue to develop until they produce something visibly noticeable.  A fire or burnt area, mold, warped framework, high heating/cooling bills, or potentially worse.  By the time you can SEE what is wrong, it is usually VERY EXPENSIVE to correct the problem.

Registering for a IR thermography survey is the first step toward gaining peace of mind about the hidden possibilities in your home or business.  If you are currently experiencing cold/hot drafts, unusual odors, or unusually high heating/cooling bills, you may have a problem developing that we can help you locate.

Even though our main focus is building surveys, we are willing to help you with any additional situations you may have.  This technology can be useful in many applications, such as roofing inspections, equine scanning for injuries, predictive maintenance, electrical component surveys, and more.

Feel free to call us and ask about your specific situation.
