About
Infrared thermography or Thermal Imaging is the science of infrared imaging. Thermographic cameras detect radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum. Since infrared radiation is emitted by all objects based on their temperatures, thermography makes it possible to “see” one’s environment with or without visible illumination. The amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with temperature and thermography allows one to see those variations in temperature.
Infrared thermography cameras produce images of invisible infrared or “heat” radiation. Nearly everything gets hot before it fails, making infrared cameras extremely cost-effective, valuable diagnostic tools in many diverse applications. And as industry strives to improve manufacturing efficiencies, manage energy, improve product quality, and enhance worker safety, new applications for infrared cameras continually emerge.
IRGuys is a local Chattanooga/Cleveland area company serving the community with infrared thermographic surveys. We use the latest infrared technology to produce images not normally seen by the naked eye. Developing problems such as water leaks, missing/inadequate insulation, electrical overloads and energy inefficiencies are usually happening “right before our eyes”, but we can’t SEE temperature. Our cameras help to identify these problems by exposing the temperature differences that accompany them. Infrared thermography can also detect problems and issues invisible to other inspection methods, and has been used in equine studies, roofing applications, and predictive maintenance in manufacturing.
It is very obvious that the applications to which this infrared thermal imaging technology can be used are limitless. Is it worth it? Ask anyone who has finally discovered missing insulation which has been costing them hundreds in utility bills if this technology is valuable. Talk to the person who finally SEES the water damage happening INSIDE their walls, which was causing them to experience smells and be sick (due to the mold growing there) if this helped. Or ask the customer who found an electrical circuit overheating behind a light switch, getting hot enough to start a fire, if they’re glad this home thermal imaging service is available.
If you have a new, unique application to which you may want to try using our cameras to see, please give us a call. We want to help!
